For short drama our read is that it's a sideways bet — not for rendering episodes, but for interactive spin-offs where fans talk to a character, a format we think vertical-drama apps will chase next.

Compared with HeyGen's interactive avatars, Tavus is deeper infrastructure, clearly built for developers rather than editors: you get latency-tuned conversation models, not a timeline UI. Studios without an engineering team should stay with HeyGen or Hedra for content and skip this. If you're building a companion app around drama IP, this is the one we'd shortlist.
